Probably not a good sign when the doctor and the pharmacist both warn you about side effects, huh?
So true! RT @howtogeek: The first chapter of Getting Things Done should be changed to: “How to Read This Book Without Snoring”
SSIS blessed me with a SQL Server 4014 error last night. Been running that job for years, odd to see it suddenly pop up.
IIS 6 and Worker Process Recycling →
Many moons ago we had a web app with a 3rd party control that appeared to leak memory over time. The web server was IIS 5 (Windows 2000) and at the time it seemed like the easiest way to work…
I haven’t read any news yet — is Buzz going to be an option for Google Apps mail users?
I can’t recall when I loaded this PC. Wonder if win7 is release candidate (AKA expiring soon) or the release version?
Girl Scout Samoas are right behind coffee in the “necessary items” category.

Silly blog spammers. Sometimes you write such insightful comments. But then you fill the name and url fields with keywords & spam. #delete
IIS is driving me a bit bonkers today. Lost all my metabase edits after the last restart.
I wonder if I can get IIS worker process logging to actually work if I add “pretty please” somewhere to the metabase.xml?
IE 8 isn’t all that horrible to use, but that default behavior to open everything in a new window instead of tab is just freakin’ maddening.
The neat thing about learning about odd wrinkles in technology is that now I have a blog topic for later
Or wait. Is “recycle worker processes (in minutes)” really referring to idle time? Can’t find a definitive answer in MSDN. (regarding IIS 6)
OMG! I *just* realized that IIS 6 defaults to restarting the Application Pools every 29 hours. Who thought 29 would be a good number? #wtf?
The good news is an early start got me in to the office ahead of traffic. The bad news is the coffee brews sooooo slowly this time of day.
OK, it is late at night. Can I safely admit that I enjoyed “Julie and Julia” — or does it need to be later?
I supported clients in The Netherlands today. You?
After over 20 years in the industry I still absolutely suck at working up [accurate] project estimates. #argh
Rocky Mountain Tech Trifecta schedule is up. http://bit.ly/cofN3N
Watching the big puffy snow flakes outside my home office window makes me feel all snug inside. And smug. I don’t have to be out driving :)
A little snow just about paralyzes suburban Denver (again). So I turned around and came home to work remotely instead. Coffee is brewing.
Hoo! Now that was a start to the second half!
Glad they have good light show… ‘cause the rest of this halftime is not doing much for me. I think they need more vol. on stage monitors
Complain about it all you want, but I’m leveraging that Dodge commercial towards my next car
Was that Dante’s Inferno game using the beloved old Diablo font?!?
I want to go to Bourbon Street!
Ooooh. “Shutter Island” was such an awesome book. I hope the movie makes the transition.
I’m starting to hate all web browsers equally.
Snowy Sunday. Superbowl. I bet I’ll have the gym to myself.
iTunes gives me cramps

Prototyping with Access. Slurping coffee. Watching the snow start to fall. Rocking flannel pants. Comfy.

Books: Daemon and Freedom →
I don’t normally do book reviews – and this isn’t one either – but I just finished a couple books that I figure some of the readers here might also enjoy.
A year ago I happened to spot a

ack. SQL Server log files sitting next to the data files. Might as well move those to another drive while I’m on the server.
Documenting job schedules. Trying to balance network and vpn saturation. Not glamorous, but very helpful :-)
90% chance of snow tomorrow. Reckon I better try for the bike ride today. Coffee first though (priorities!)
I really liked Suarez’s “Daemon”. I’m totally loving his follow-up effort “Freedom.” If you like a bit of near-future sci-fi read these!
Nuggets beat the Lakers — without Anthony. What a game!
waiting for youngest’s bball game to start
I was getting way too much done so Firefox offered to slow me down with an awesome 100% CPU run until I killed it (one tab open…)
OK, this helps: Google Cal now caps at 1000 recurring events http://bit.ly/bPLPsw (up from 365)
well it does beat the pants off of trying to use OO Base for anything useful…
Really need a solid way to document job schedules for a bunch of servers. I had a method but it has … “challenges”… - http://goo.gl/UbOh
am I really thinking about taking on an Access project?
ROFL! RT @BrentO: From @jdbullock in comments: “Crap, this database is more corrupt than our accounting team.” http://bit.ly/d8P5OK
robocopy has way too many exit codes. Debating about just building a shell around it to get a normal “binary” yes/no result
OK, no more prod databases in Simple recovery mode (omg right?). Proper backup schemes in place now as well. Feeling more better about life.
